No. 20 Coyotes Rebound in Sweep Over Toros

Box Score
SAN BERNARDINO -- Looking to keep the momentum from last night's colossal upset at perennial power UC San Diego going, another perennial power in 20th-ranked Cal State San Bernardino generated its own momentum in taking a 3-0 sweep over Cal State Dominguez Hills.  Whitney Lee paced the Toros with 9 kills on the night.

With the 25-22, 25-12, 25-22 loss, CSUDH falls to 3-6, 1-1 CCAA, while CSUSB improves to 4-6, 1-1 CCAA.

The first set saw the Toros keep pace with the 6-time defending CCAA Champions, tying as late at 14-14 before the Yotes went on an 11-8 run to put the opener away.

After the hosts ran away with set two, CSUSB looked to run away with the third set after taking a quick 5-1 lead.

The Toros, however, had other thoughts, actually taking a three-point lead twice before a 4-point run gave CSUSB the lead for good at 13-12, building a 21-17 lead and maintaining its distance en route to a 25-22 result.

The Coyotes hit .340 compared to .160 for the Toros, tallying 12 more kills in the sweep.

The Toros will open their 2012 homestand next weekend for the first of five-consecutive matches, hosting CS Monterey Bay to begin the quintet on Friday, September 21, at 7 pm.
