Box Score
CARSON -- A month and six days after Cal State Dominguez Hills handed perennial power UC San Diego a stunning 3-0 loss in La Jolla, the now 25th-ranked Tritons returned the favor on "Dig 4 A Cure" night in the Torodome in their own 3-0 sweep.  Sophomore Azieanna Smith led the Toros with 9 kills in the loss.

In the 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 defeat, the Toros fall to 9-11, 7-6 CCAA, while the Tritons improve to 15-6, 10-3 CCAA.

The Toros took a slim 8-4 lead in the opener and held the four-point advantage as far as 18-14, until the Tritons used a 6-2 run to knot the game at 20-20 before strong serving by Brittany Lombardi and Amber Hawthorne proved instrumental in the 25-21 wi
n.

Set two was nearly a mirror image of the opener as the Toros took an 8-5 lead early, only to see UCSD sieze control of the set after a 10-3 run.  The Triton lead hovered around four to five points the rest of the set en route to a 25-20 victory and a two sets to none lead.

After the break, the Toros looked to regain their momentum early, but the Tritons had other ideas after turning a 3-3 tie into a 15-8 lead, withstanding a late Toro run that saw the hosts close to within 21-20 before UCSD took the final set 25-21.

Danielle Dahle led all attackers with 16 kills and a .324 hitting percentage, with Sara McCutchan chipping in 10 kills with just two errors (.500) in the sweep.

Whitney Lee and Delea Pursel added 6 kills each while Lee chipped in 6 block assists and a solo stuff, but UCSD's .223 hitting percentage compared to just .125 for the Toros was the difference in tonights verdict.

The Toros will take to the road the next two weekends before returning home on November 9 hosting Cal Poly Pomona.
