Toros Host No. 25 UC San Diego in "Dig 4 A Cure" Match on Saturday

CARSON -- The battle between upstart Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 25 ranked UC San Diego will take on added significance as Saturday's match also is the California Collegiate Athletic Association-sponsored and designated "Dig 4 A Cure" match-up in the Torodome.

Throughout the month of October, each CCAA volleyball team will designate a special "Dig 4 A Cure" match to highlight breast cancer awareness month.  Each team will wear pink warm-up shirts and the match will be played with pink volleyballs to honor those who are battling, or who have battled breast cancer.

The CCAA and Molten USA have teamed up to provide special balls and shirts for Saturday's match in an effort to highlight the fight against breast cancer, with Molten providing the pink volleyballs.

The surprise team of the CCAA, the Toros currently sit at 9-9 and 7-4 in league play, firmly entrenched towards the top of the pack in a three-team tie for fourth place.

Head coach Jennifer Adeva is pleased with where the Toros have positioned themselves after a strong first half, but knows there's more work to be done, with this weekend's match-ups being the next step in what should be an exciting race to close the regular season.

Coach Adeva also knows how big this weekend's matches are, but knows there's more volleyball to be played in the second half of the season.

Having won more league games this season than in the past four years, CSUDH is just a game away from second and two games away from the top spot currently held by Friday's opponent in six-time defending CCAA champion CS San Bernardino, which swept the Toros in the first meeting in San Bernardino.

Junior outside hitter Elizabeth Krieger has been one of the many reasons why the Toros have experienced success this year, and talks about what's making the difference.

Molten USA, the official volleyball of the CCAA, is pleased to sponsor the CCAA "Dig 4 A Cure" program.

The match will be streamed live on the Toro Sports Network at www.GoToros.com/live, with first serve set to begin at 7 pm.
