Toros Move Into Tie for Fourth in CCAA After 3-1 Win at CS Stanislaus

TURLOCK -- Junior outside Elizabeth Krieger led a sizzling Toro offense with 17 kills and just on error as CSUDH hit .310 in tonight's 3-1 win at CS Stanislaus.  With the win, the Toros improve to 9-9, 7-4 CCAA to wrap up the first half of league action, and into a three-way tie for fourth place in the CCAA.

After tonight's 25-12, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16 result, the Warriors now sit at 6-13, 3-8 CCAA.

The Toros took charge from the first serve, turning a slim 7-5 lead into a 21-11 advantage on the strong serving of Rose Greco before putting the host Warriors away, 25-12, by making just one error en route to a .394 hitting percentage.

The Warriors fought back in the second, blasting 19 kills with just three errors in the 25-22 win, before CSUDH closed the door in the final two sets.

In those final sets, the Toros put away 27 balls with just 7 errors, compared to the host's 22 kills and 16 errors in the four-set win.

Whitney Lee also enjoyed a tremendous outing, blasting 13 kills on 19 swings and just one error, good for a .632 hitting percentage and 4th place for hitting percentage in a match during the rally scoring era.

Krieger also chipped in 17 digs and 3 service aces, with Greco contributing 15 digs in the win.  Dana Brown again was masterful as quarterback, setting up 41 assists and tallying 16 digs, also adding 4 block assists in the match.

The Toros return home next weekend for their biggest homestand of the year facing CS San Bernardino and UC San Diego in the Torodome.  First serve for both Friday and Saturday's matches is set for 7 pm.
