No. 17 Broncos Buck Toros in 65-50 Decision

CARSON -- Junior Siedah Wilson led all Toro scorers with 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field with a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe, but visiting Cal Poly Pomona connected for seven triples en route to a 65-50 decision.

After suffering their fourth-straight loss, Cal State Dominguez Hills falls to 2-16 overall and 1-10 in the California Collegiate Athletics Association.  Cal Poly Pomona, currently third in the CCAA, improves to 8-3 CCAA, 12-3 overall.

The Broncos took control from the opening tip to the tune of an 8-0 lead.  Although they were unable to take the lead, the Toros kept within 10 points of the Broncos until 5:24 in the first half when Broncos senior center Megan Ford laid in a shot to bring the lead to 11 points. 

The Toros could not slow down the strong Bronco offense in the remaining minutes of the first half, resulting in a 19-point lead in favor of the visitors.

The first 10 minutes of the second half looked much like the first as the Broncos continued to extend their lead to a game high of 24 points at the 10:20 mark. 

The Toros then showed new life after two made free-throws with 10:06 remaining in regulation by senior Zipporah Brown.  Brown followed her two points with a layup and another two points from the key to lessen the deficit a little more. 

Junior guard Wilson then layed in two consecutive shots from the arc to bring the Broncos to with 16 points with less than eight minutes to play. 

CSUDH continued to fight, wrapping up a 14-0 run to bring the Toros within eight with just five minutes left, before the visitors pulled away for the 15-point win.

Wilson had 12 second-half points with Sherrie Hughes contributing eight points and Hillarie Perrin-Grant seven. 

A huge asset on the boards for the Toros was Brown with a season hight of 11 rebounds, including eight on the defensive end.  Brown also added two blocks and, along with Wilson, snagged two steals on the night.

Leading for the Broncos was Ford with 17 points, followed closely by sophomore guard Arial Marsh, who was 5-for-8 from the floor, 4-for-5 from the three-point line, and 2-for-4 from the line.
