Toros 75-40 Loss to Lumberjacks Ends Postseason Hopes

ARCATA -- Following a last-second home finale victory over Cal State East Bay, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros were holding on to playoff aspirations by a shoestring. However, with tonight's 75-40 loss to the Humboldt State Lumberjacks, coupled with a Sonoma State victory, their playoff hopes ended. Junior Ashley Hudson scored eight points and eight rebounds on the evening.

The home crowd for the Lumberjacks helped the team get off to a great start, outscoring the Toros 10-2 over the first 2:20 of the game. CSUDH would respond by scoring seven of the next 10 points close the gap to only 13-9 with 14:22 left in the half. That would be the end of the Toros hopes, however, as HSU went on an game-changing 24-3 run over the next 11 minutes to seal the game. At halftime CSUDH trailed 37-18.

In the second half the Toros played the Lumberjacks closer than the first half with a 38-22 result, en route to HSU's 75-40 win.

For the game CSUDH lost the rebounding and assists battles, 39-31 and 25-12 respectively.

The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros will finish their season Friday night, February 25, against the Sonoma State Seawolves in Rohnert Park.
