Volleyball Plays Two Up North to Close Out Season

CSUDH's three seniors in (L-R) Madison Horsley, Cassidy Mangum and Olivia White, shown here during "Senior Day" in Carson, will conclude their Toro careers this weekend on the road
CARSON -- The Willie Nelson song, “On the Road Again,” is the theme once more this weekend as the Toros volleyball team travels up north for two matches to close out the 2011 season under first-year head coach Jennifer Adeva.

After contests last week in Pomona and San Francisco, the Toros play tomorrow in Turlock at Cal State Stanislaus and Saturday at Chico State.  Opening serve is             7 o'clock both nights.

Sophomore outside hitter/opposite Elizabeth Krieger leads the Toros with 250 kills and 214 digs.  True freshman outside hitter Azieanna Smith has added 160 kills this year and senior setter Olivia White has recorded 715 assists, ranked sixth best in the CCAA.

Cal State Stanislaus beat the Toros 3-1 on October 8 in Carson, but at 9-15 overall and 5-15 in conference action, the Warriors have lost seven in a row.  Cal State Stanislaus is led by senior outside hitter Lianne Vicchio with 327 kills and 293 digs.

The season wraps up Saturday night at Acker Gym in Chico, in a rematch after the Wildcats swept the Toros on October 7 at the Torodome. Junior outside hitter Makenzie Snyder has 293 kills in 91 sets, good for ninth in the CCAA, including a 25 kill, 12 dig effort in her last outing against Cal State Monterey Bay.

The match will be Senior Night as two Wildcats play their last game and White, Cassidy Mangum, and Madison Horsley end their Toros careers.
