No. 3 Coyotes All Business in 3-0 Sweep of Toros

SAN BERNARDINO -- Oh, what a difference a month and three days make.  After Cal State Dominguez Hills took a set and tied as late as 18-all in the first meeting between the two teams in Carson, No. 3 CS San Bernardino raced out to a 20-2 lead in set one and never looked back in a dominating 25-4, 25-11, 25-11 sweep of the Toros.

With the loss, CSUDH remains in search of its first California Collegiate Athletic Association win, falling to 1-17, 0-14 CCAA.

The hosts ran away with the opener after scoring the first 10 points of the match, leading by as much as 18 before winning by 21.

Set two was much like the first after CSUSB took a 10-3 lead on a kill by Priscilla Collings.  The Toros, however, got to within 13-6 on an Olivia White service ace, only to have the Coyotes outscore CSUDH 12-5 en route to the set two victory.

The Toros showed life in set three, staying within a point at 8-7 on a kill by Azieanna Smith and keeping within striking distance at 14-10 on one of Elizabeth Krieger's team-high 7 putaways.

That spurt served as an inspiration to the hosts as CSUSB ran off 11 of the next 12 points in the sweep.

The efficient Coyotes, who stayed perfect at 19-0, 14-0 CCAA, committed just one hitting error in notching a .523 team hitting percentage, compared to 15 errors by the Toros and their .024 percentage.

The road for CSUDH's first win won't get any easier as the Toros travel to face No. 18 UC San Diego on Saturday, with first serve in La Jolla set for 7:00 pm in RIMAC Arena.
