Toros Washed Away by Tritons in 3-0 Loss

CARSON-- Despite having two hitters with double-digit kills, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros couldn't overcome their 38 errors before being downed by UC San Diego, 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-13). Freshman Elizabeth Krieger recorded her first career double-double, leading the team with 14 digs and tying for the lead with 10 kills.

The first set saw several good things for the Toros, as they allowed only seven kills by the Tritons and held them to below their season average in hitting. However, too many mistakes proved fateful as they were blitzed to a 25-13 defeat.

The second saw increased game play from both sides, including three ties, one coming after the Toros were down by five points. Junior Olivia White was the catalyst with 13 assists to go along with three digs in the set. The Tritons did eventually find their stride and won 25-19.

Overall CSUDH was led with 25 assists by White while Denise Devine tied for the lead in kills with 10.  Junior Elayne Greer extended her block streak tonight as well.

The Toros return to action on Saturday in Carson at 7:00pm against the No. 25 Cal State East Bay Pioneers. The game will also serve as Senior Day as it will be the last home game for two Toro players.
