EAST BAY --The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team grabbed a second set win against the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay but were unable to capitalize in a match win as they fell on the road 1-3 to start weekend play.  Adding four kills to her career total, Ashley Clark landed her name in the Toros' all-time career top ten list, now with 645 kills.

Taking a full set to find their groove the Toros were snuffed in the first as the hosts grabbed a quick win at 25-11.

Falling to a deficit of 0-3 in the second, the Toros quickly gained composure as both Clark and Denise DeVine led them on a six point rush from a tied game of 19-all to tie the match at 1-1 with the score 35-30, Toros.

A threat again in the third the Toros fell behind by four only once, using a late-game push, this time from Clark and Elizabeth Krieger to grab a late lead at 22-22 before CSUEB used their own run, grabbing the set win at 25-23.

The Pioneers grabbed the final win at 25-15, ending the night on a 3-1 note for CSUEB.

With 20 and nine digs, DeVine led all Toros, only one dig shy of her sixth double-double of the season.

Abbey Prusa chipped in an additional eight kills while defensive duties came way of Hilary Hougardy who grabbed 28 digs.

Both Katie Allen and Sukhjit Athwal led the hosts with 11 kills apiece.

With 645 career kills, Clark adds her name to a list that last saw a new name in 2004.  Clark is now 120 away from cracking the top-five in her final year as a Toro.

Now 1-11 overall and 1-6 in the CCAA, the Toros will head south to take on the Tritons of UC San Diego tomorrow with first serve set at 7:00pm.
