Jahn Proves Golden in 1-0 Overtime Win at No. 14 Cal State L.A.

Golden goal gives head coach Joe Flanagan his 100th win as head coach of women's program

LOS ANGELES -- Junior #Karina Jahn# picked a great time to pick up her first goal of 2009, taking a centering pass in Cal State L.A. territory and finding the back of the net to give visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills a 1-0 win in overtime, avenging an earlier 3-0 loss to the 14th-ranked Golden Eagles a month ago in Carson.

Tonight's win, which improved the Toros to 5-4, 4-2 CCAA, gave head coach #Joe Flanagan# his 100th win as head coach for the women's program, and was a far cry from the two teams' last meeting in which the visiting Golden Eagles dominated play in their shutout win.

The rematch proved defensive as the two teams combined for just seven shots in the first period, increasing to a total of 13 shots after the break, with neither offense able to break through.

That all changed in the first overtime as the Toros took the extra session's lone shot, and made it count after #Jessica Murphy#, who scored two goals in each of CSUDH's past two games, took her turn as the conduit.

After making a lengthy run down the left side where she eluded the Golden Eagle defense, Murphy sent her centering pass to the middle of the CSULA box, where Jahn beat Jessie Walworth for the golden goal.

The Golden Eagles, who dropped to 7-2, 4-2 CCAA, tallied a 5-2 corner kick edge, while Walworth was credited with two saves compared to one for CSUDH keeper #Alyssa Congdon#.

CSUDH returns home to host a pair of northern California foes, beginning with Cal State Stanislaus on Friday, with first kick set for 4:30 pm.
