Lumberjacks Cut Down Toros Streak in 71-57 Loss

Arcata, CA -- Fighting a deficit all 40 minutes of play, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team was unable to secure a sixth-straight win as they fell to host Humboldt State in a 71-57 loss. With a record of 18-9 (13-7 CCAA), the Toros were again led by Neka Mixon with 12 points and rebounds apiece.

CSUDH played their best game until 11:29 into the first half when a Kayla Montalvo three game them a five point lead at 13-8. After that the host 'Jacks regained control on a Brittney Taylor layup to grab the eventual lead and force the Toros to play catch-up.

Whitney Gantt would give CSUDH its last lead of the first at 22-19 off a trey of her own before the break which had HSU up at 30-26.

In a wire-to-wire second half, the Toros would only see a positive on the boards once as Aujanee Baldwin sank both of her freebies to edge them to 38-37.

Humboldt would respond and quickly build its lead up to the double digits before securing the win at 71-57.

Leading the Toros on the night was Mixon with 12 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. Close behind her was Baldwin who had 12 points of her own along with four boards. MacKenzie Mathias rounded out the offense with 11 points.
