No. 3 CS San Bernardino Coasts to 3-0 Sweep Over Toros

CARSON -- Birthday girl Cassidy Mangum served up a game-high 23 assists, but visiting and 3rd-ranked Cal State San Bernardino offered too much firepower in taking a 25-17, 25-17, 25-12 sweep over the Toros on a cool Friday night in Carson.

With the loss, CSUDH falls to 1-25, 1-18 CCAA, while CSUSB improves to 25-1, 18-1 CCAA.

The Toros played even with the Yotes in the match's early stages, tying the opening stanza at 5-5 before CSUSB out-scored the hosts 20-12 to take the 8-point win in the first frame.

Set two mirrored set one as CSUDH hung tough at 7-7 before the Coyotes took charge, ending the set on an 18-10 spurt to take a 2-0 lead.

The Coyotes wasted little time in set three, taking a 10-7 lead and out-scoring CSUDH 15-5 for the sweep.

Ashley Clark paced the Toros with 8 kills and 7 digs, while Madison Horsley chipped in 7 kills and 3 digs.  The visitors, meanwhile, boasted 5 players with at least 5 kills, led by Ashtin Hall with 8 on 8-of-12 hitting on the night.

As a team, CSUSB out-hit CSUDH .382 to .100, using its huge size advantage at the net to the tune of a 7-0 advantage in blocks.

CSUDH continues its homestand tomorrow night as Cal Poly Pomona visits the Torodome for a 7:00 pm first serve.
