Toros Fall to BYU-Hawai'i in Opener of Triton Invitational

La Jolla, CA --- The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team dropped a tough battle to the Seasiders of BYU-Hawai'i in the first match of the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego.  The Toros (0-4) were plauged by errors and could not keep the momentum of their skilled play in the first set to grab a win.  Sophomore Ashley Clark (pictured) paced the servers with two service aces.

The best effort of the night came in set one as the Toros held a lead up to 18-17 and were in good form to take the set. BYUH battled back with late kills to squelch the Toro's momentum at a final score of 25-20.

Carrying the same momentum into the second set, a kill from Madison Horsley and a service ace from Clark quickly brought their lead to 5-1. The Seasiders quickly learned how to break down the Toros offense as attack and handling errors brought the final scores of sets two and three to 25-17 and 25-10, ending the night.

The Toros were led offensively by Heather Rushton with five kills. Rebekah Wolfgramm contributed eight set assists and Horsley led the defense with 10 digs, while Clark chipped in six digs and three kills in the loss.

Play continues tomorrow as the Toros face Notre Dame de Namur at 11:00 am and Seattle Pacific University at 4:00pm.
