Rohnert Park, CA --- Sophomore Marissa Anderson tallied 6 kills as the Toros faced a red-hot Sonoma State team, whose defense set the tone in SSU's 25-11, 25-20, 25-12 sweep, moving the Toros to 1-11, (0-4 CCAA).
After falling behind quickly in set one the Toros accomplished their longest point streak as they gained points 9, 10 and 11 off a kill and service ace from Anderson and a SSU attack error. However with the Seawolves already at 24 the set quickly ended at 25-11.
The Toros kept it close in set two, coming back from a bleak 16-8 deficit, to bring them as close as 17-14. Kills from Ashley Clark and additional service and attack errors from Sonoma were not enough to close the gap as they fell 25-20.
Set three ended quickly as Kristy Sather, who led the Seawolves with 10 kills, ended the game at 25-12. Once again attack erros plagued the Toros, who were not able to hold it together as the match ended 3-0 in Sonoma's favor.
In addition to Anderson's effort, Rebekah Wolfgramm provided setting with 10 assists. Overall the Toros evenly placed their digs among the team with Melissa Velasco leading with 9 and Cassidy Mangum and Clark making 8 each.
CSUDH continues CCAA play as they host Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus on September 26th and 27th, respectively, in the Torodome. First serve against Chico is at 7:00 pm.
