Toros Take One Set in Loss to San Francisco State on the Road

San Francisco, CA --- The Toros once again improved in their playing as they nailed the second of four sets in a 3-1 loss to the Gators of San Francisco State on the Road. Leading the way for the Toros was Marissa Anderson with seven kills. Melissa Velasco contributed with an amazing 22 digs on the night.

After taking a quick deficit in set one, due in part to timely kills from SFSU's Beth Perkins and Kyle Lamet, the Toros fell with a final score of 25-12.

Rallying behind the loss in set two, the Toros took an early lead to keep the gators at bay throughout the game. An attack error from the Gators and a kills by Ashley Davison - who posted 6 kills on the night - propelled the Toros to a strong lead, with their highest at 17-10. A service ace from Rebekah Wolfgramm and a Madison horsley kill secured a set win for CSUDH at 25-20.

Unable to ride the momemtum into set three the Toros quickly fell behind and took a loss at 25-10. Attempting to regain control in set four, a Wolfgramm ace put CSUDH on the board first and kept them in the game. Tied at 16-16, two consecutive Ashley Clark aces kept the Toros alive, however subsequent Gator kills locked the game at 25-18 in thier favor.

Leading the offense for the Toros was Anderson with 7 kills. She was followed by Davison and Clark, both with 6. Velasco compelted 22 digs, her second highest of the season in a match. Wolfgramm once again led in sets with 14 assists.

The Toros, now 1-14 (0-7 CCAA) will battle host Cal State Monterey Bay tomorrow. First serve is at 7:00pm
