Toros Suffer Second Half Cold Streak in 66-50 Loss at San Francisco State

San Francisco, CA -- Senior Jessica Liang led the Toros with 17 points, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc, but host San Francisco State outscored the Toros by a whopping 42-16 count in the second half to take a 66-50 win over CSUDH.

The Toros outscored the Gators 12-0 in the first three minutes of the game.  SF State cut the Toro lead to 20-15 with 8:00 to go in the half, but CSU Dominguez Hills outscored its hosts 14-5 in the final eight minutes to take a 34-24 lead into the locker room at the half.  The Toros shot 65% from the field in the first half including 66% from three-point land and held SF State to just 26% shooting.

SF State outscored the Toros 19-9 in the first eight minutes of the second half to tie the game at 43-43 with 11:49 left in the game.  The Gators took the lead on a Brio Rode tip-in.  They then outscored their visitors 10-2 in the next three minutes to take a 55-45 lead a lead they would not relinquish as they increased it to 66-50.

Krystle Mays s
cored a game high 18 ponts while dishing out 5 assists to lead the Gators while Rode added 16 points and Jessica Hout-Freeman chipped in 11 points.  The Gators forced 29 turnovers by the Toros while recording 13 steals.  They held their visitors to just 23% shooting in the second half.

The Toros continue CCAA road action tomorrow night as they travel to Seaside for a 5:30 pm first tip against Cal State Monterey Bay.
