Toros Timely in 3-0 Win Over Cal State San Marcos

Kristen Boskovich tallies two late insurance goals in victory

Box Score
Carson, CA -- After blanking cross-town rival Cal State LA by a 3-0 count last Friday, the Toros posted another 3-0 win over visiting Cal State San Marcos Monday afternoon at Toro Stadium as Melissa Livergood and Kristen Boskovich combined for the three late half scores in the victory.

Amy Livergood was key for the Toros in the first half, sending pass after pass deep into the Cougar zone, with the Toros misfiring on their first good look in the 30th minute, and San Marcos keeper Jane Drury stoning M. Livergood's attempt in the 39th minute.

That all changed at 42:48, however, as M. Livergood took a cross from Kelly Matosian and beat Drury low to the far post for a 1-0 lead.

That's where the score remained until late in the contest when Boskovich lofted a 22 footer over Drury's head for an insurance goal at 79:15, before Boskovich took a cross from Matosian in the 88th minute and again found paydirt, this time near post.

Although the Cougars, now 4-6-1, took 11 shots in the game, they had just two good looks on the afternoon, with both corner kick balls in the 44th and 78th minutes eventually cleared by the Toro defense, keeping the Cougars off the board.

CSUDH starter Rachel Rood tallied one save as the Toros stretched their unbeaten streak to six games, while Drury made 6 saves in the loss.

The Toros, which improved to 7-1-3, concludes its 6-game homestand on Tuesday, October 2, as Western Washington pays Carson a visit, with first kick scheduled for 7 pm in Toro Stadium.
