Seawolves Roll Past Toros Volleyball In Three

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  A season-high fifteen service aces along with an efficient hitting attack resulted in a 3-0 Sonoma State sweep of Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday evening in CCAA volleyball action.  The Seawolves go to 4-7, 1-2 CCAA on the year while the Toros drop to 1-11, 0-3 CCAA.

Sonoma State captured the match by scores of 30-19, 30-22, 30-23. The Seawolves hit a season-high .297, a full 120 points higher than their season average.

Rikki Buckshnis continued her excellent attacking on Friday with a ten-kill, no-error performance.  The Clackamas, Oregon native hit an astounding .625.  That percentage would have been the fourth-highest single-match clip in school history if Buckshnis had accumulated four more attacks.

Other Seawolves with stellar nights included Marianne Fox (nine kills, .333), Kristy Sather (ten kills), and Kaylee Aizenstadt (eight kills).  Lindsay Brown was solid at setter, finishing with 36 assists and Taylor Manton posted 19 digs.

SSU was helped by poor service receiving from Dominguez Hills.  Brown, Sather, and Amanda Vanover each recorded four service aces.

Sophia Lopes led the Toros with 12 kills and 12 digs, while freshman Marissa Anderson chipped in 11 kills and nine digs.  Rohnert Park native Kayleigh Spratt dished out 29 assists in the effort .

The Toros are back in action tomorrow night when they travel to Seaside, CA to take on Cal State Monterey Bay, first serve scheduled for 7:00 pm.
