San Francisco, Calif.--- San Francisco State University Gators' senior pitcher Steve Evanson pitched a complete game six-hit shutout in the Gators' 6-0 win over the visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros (7-10-1, 3-5 CCAA) Sunday afternoon at SF State's Maloney Field. With the win, the Gators (3-13, 2-6 CCAA) earn the split in this weekend's four-game series with the Toros.

The Gators scored all the runs that Evanson needed with a three-run fourth inning capped by a two-run double by Eric Sturges that scored Ernie Munoz and David Phillips. SF State added another run in the fifth and two more in the seventh to take a 6-0 lead.

Evanson finished the day striking out a season high 7 batters and walking just one en route to his first complete game shutout as a Gator. Two of the Toros' six hits came off the bat of second baseman Houston Hernandez.

Munoz, Phillips, and Derek Simper each had two hits for the Gators while Larry Lewis scored twice and Sturges had two RBIs. Rudy Rojas fell to 0-2 for the Toros, pitching six innings, giving up eight hits and four runs while striking out two and walking two.

CSUDH hits the field again next weekend when the team hosts a Friday-Sunday series with Sonoma State. First pitch Friday for a single game is 2:00 p.m.
