Carson, CA - In a battle between two of the top               teams in the West Region, Alana Bailey (Altadena, CA/John Muir               HS) led three Toros in double figures with 19 points and eight               rebounds as CSUDH ended its three-game losing streak with a 68-59               win over Humboldt State. With the win CSUDH improves to 11-8, 8-7               CCAA the while 'Jacks fall to 14-6, 9-6 CCAA.
It would be a tight contest early between the               West Region's No. 5 seed 'Jacks and the No. 9 Toros,               with the two teams knotted at 12-12 after five minutes of play.
The Toros would finally gain some separation               with 7:59 on the clock on a free throw by Ennisha Kyles (Los               Angeles, CA/USC Mast HS) to put CSUDH up six at 20-14.
HSU would cut the Toro lead in half after a               jumper by Katie Wilder, and would follow with a free throw on               their next possession.
The Toro lead would jump back up to six on a               trey by Jessica Liang (Alhambra, CA/Mark Keppel HS), only               to see Jennifer Enos counter with a long range bomb of her own to               put HSU within three at 23-20 with just under three minutes left.
The Toros would use a 7-0 run over the next two               minuets to take the game's first double-digit lead, but the 'Jacks               would use a pair of free throws and a layup by Wilder to close the               gap to just six heading into the break.
After intermission the 'Jacks would take               control of the game, grabbing the lead at 40-39 with 13:43 on the               clock on a jumper by Kristina O'Keefe.
HSU would hold the lead until a layup by #Aujaneé               Baldwin# (Fontana, CA/Etiwanda HS) at the 4:38 mark gave the               Toros the lead at 56-55.
CSUDH would hold off the 'Jacks by hitting               eight free throws down the stretch to come away with the win and               avenge their earlier season loss to HSU.
HSU was led by Wilder's 19 points, while               Mia Spasowska and Enos were also in double figures with 13 and 12               points, respectively.
In addition to Bailey's 19 points and               eight boards, Brigayle Iglehart (San Diego, CA/Grossmont               College) chipped in 15 points, five rebounds, four assists,               and four steals. Liang would be the final Toro in double figures               with 10 points and five rebounds.
CSUDH will be in action tomorrow when they host               Sonoma State, with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 pm in the Torodome.
