Broncos Earn Four-Game Victory Over Toros

The 24th-ranked Broncos defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills 3-1 (30-15, 30-19, 26-30, 30-20) on Senior Night before a crowd of 176 at Darlene May Gym on Saturday.

Harkey led the Broncos with 17 kills and had a .448 attack percentage (17-4-29) along with four block assists. Kathol was right behind with 14 kills and an eye-popping .737 attack percentage (14-0-19) and seven block assists. Vanessa Williams was equally dominating as she had a .448 attack percentage (17-4-29), along with four block assists.

For the night, the Broncos, now 19-6 overall and 11-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, had a .382 attack percentage with 72 kills.

Twice the Broncos ushered attack percentages of .444 (in Games 1 and 4) and dominated the match. Even in the third game in which they lost, the Broncos still had a .270 attack percentage, countered by the Toros' .214.

Jenna Young had nine kills for the Broncos, while setter Jasmine Davis had 52 assists.
 
The Toros (2-26 overall, 1-16) were led by Sophia Lopes' double-double of 13 kills and 14 digs.  Lauren Wells added 10 kills while libero Jenise Espindola picked up a match-high 17 digs.
 
The Toros close out the 2007 season on Saturday, November 10, when they host Humboldt State at 7:00 pm, marking the final match for four departing seniors in Kayleigh Spratt, Tiffany Bull, Jenise Espindola, and Sophia Lopes, who will be honored prior to first serve.
