La Jolla, CA -- Senior Renee Haynes (pictured) took a feed from fellow senior Corrie Hirokawa with 43 ticks left in regulation and slid her shot past Triton keeper Jessica McGovern's right side as 25th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills handed 6th-ranked UC San Diego its first loss of the season in a thrilling 1-0 victory Wednesday night in front of 789 fans at Triton Field.

With the loss the Tritons fall to 10-1-1 overall and 7-1-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play while the Toros improve to 11-1-3 overall and 6-1-2 in league action.

Both teams had played nearly 200 full minutes against one another this season without scoring a goal until Haynes netted the game-winner in the 90th minute, her first goal of the season. The two squads played to a scoreless double overtime draw in Carson earlier this season, which until this evening, was the only blemish on the Tritons' record.

CSUDH capitalized on UCSD's failure to clear the ball late in the match as the Toros threw the ball in from the left side to Hirokawa, who sent the ball deep to the right side where Haynes collected the ball, lined up the shot, and beat Triton netminder Jessica McGovern to the lower left corner.

McGovern had made five saves in the match up to that point while her counterpart, Alyssa Congdon, made seven saves in the contest.

The Tritons out-shot the Toros by a narrow 8-7 margin in both halves for a 16-14 advantage in the match. UCSD also held a slim advantage in corner kicks, taking five while limiting the Toros to four.

CSUDH returns to action this Sunday as the Toros travel to Cal State L.A. for a 3:00 pm first kick in Jesse Owens Track.
