Carson, CA -- Junior Corrie Hirokawa (Torrance, CA/North Torrance HS) tallied nine shots to lead CSUDH's 31-8 decisive shot advantage, but visiting Humboldt State equaled the Toros' effort where it counted as the two teams played to a scoreless draw after two overtimes. With the 0-0 decision, CSUDH moves to 5-6-1, 4-3-1 CCAA, while HSU now stands at 6-4-2, 3-3-2 CCAA.

After the two teams played even in the first frame, with CSUDH notching one more shot than HSU along with one corner kick to none for the 'Jacks, the hosts turned on its offense after intermission to the tune of a 20-2 shot advantage. HSU keeper Staci Self was up to the challenge, however, turning away 10 shots on the night, including 4 in the second 45-minute session. Hirokawa's persistence nearly paid off in the 89th minute as she dribbled around two 'Jack defenders and launched her shot just over Self's outstretched arms, only to see the crossbar keep the game scoreless at the end of regulation.

Hirokawa had a second golden opportunity as she blasted a shot from 18 yards out with under a minute left in the first overtime, but a leaping Self punched the ball over the goal to preserve the tie. Both teams tallied one shot in the second overtime, but neither would find paydirt.

CSUDH tallied a 9-2 cushion on corners while the 'Jacks were whistled for two offsides compared to none for the Toros. The resurgent CSUDH defense, led by keeper Ashley De Alejandro's (Lakewood, CA/Long Beach City College) four saves, notched its third-straight game without allowing a goal while improving its unbeaten streak to four-consecutive games.

The Toros welcome Sonoma State on Sunday, October 1, with first kick scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in Toro Stadium.
