SEATTLE (Aug. 29) Andrew Marinez converted a first-half header as 5th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills snapped 9th-ranked Seattle Pacific University's 14-game home unbeaten streak by beating the Falcons 2-0 at Interbay Stadium Tuesday.

The Toros (2-0-0) got an insurance score from Mario Guerrero in the 87th minute to win their seventh game in the teams' last nine meetings.

Standing 8 yards outside the far post, Marinez tucked away a right-wing cross from Sammy Rivas for a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute.

After falling behind, Seattle Pacific put Dominguez Hills under considerable pressure for the first 38 minutes of the second half. The Falcons (1-1-0) out-shot the Toros 9-4 in the period.

Matt Kemper's header skipped off the crossbar with 21 minutes left. The SPU sweeper had also forced a reaction save from CSDH keeper Kyle Polak in the game's 8th minute.

Guerrero's goal caught Seattle Pacific on the break. He took a ball from Humberto Lopez and sped toward goal, bouncing his point-blank shot off goalie Kellen Rosten and into the net.

Rosten had made a diving stop of Jose Serpas in the 49th minute and Guerrero's header grazed the right post in the 84th minute.

The Falcons finished with a 14-10 edge in shots and 5-3 in corner kicks.

CSUDH remains in Seattle as the team has a match scheduled with Seattle University on Thursday.
