SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State Dominguez Hills right-hander Kristine Minter pitched a no-hitter Thursday as the Toros defeated Cal State San Bernardino 7-0 in the makeup of a California Collegiate Athletic Association softball game that was rained out last Friday.

Minter flirted with a perfect game. The only blemish on her record for the game was a fourth-inning walk to the Coyotes' leading hitter Krista Hernandez with two out. Hernandez was stranded at first. Minter's unbeaten record in the circle improved to 13-0. She faced just 22 batters, one over the minimum, striking out four.

The win improved the Toros, ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II and No. 2 in the West Region, to 33-6 overall and 12-4 in the CCAA. The loss dropped the Coyotes to 15-26 overall and 8-10 in the CCAA.

The Toros will host Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday at 1 p.m. while the Coyotes will host Cal State Stanislaus at noon on Saturday.

Dominguez Hills gave Minter all the support she needed in the first inning when Cindy Perry-Brown led off the game with a triple and scored on Kate Groden's double. Perry-Brown was two-for-four with three runs scored in the game. Groden was four-for-five in a 12-hit Toros attack off three Coyotes pitchers. Rozz Rios (6-14) took the loss.

The Toros padded their lead to 3-0 in the third on a two-run homer by senior Jackie Miller, her seventh of the season.

A three-run fourth-inning made it 6-0. Lori Moreno singled in one run and Jennifer Wilson knocked in another with a sacrifice fly. The third run came home on one of the Coyotes' four errors in the game.

Groden drove in the game's final run in the fifth.

The Toros have dominated opponents, outscoring them 241-73 in 39 games and opponents have batted just .197 against Toros pitching. The Coyotes are batting just .203 in 18 CCAA games, .236 overall.
