Box Score

Carson, CA - Unique Bennett's (San Bernardino, CA/Chaffey College) five second half threes in only eight minutes on the floor helped CSUDH overcome a 36-29 half time deficit to defeat Grand Canyon University 84-65 in the Torodome. With the win, CSUDH improves to 3-1 overall and Grand Canyon drops to 4-3.

The Antelopes would take advantage of some early Toro turnovers to jump out to a 19-10 lead with 12:53 left in the first half.

CSUDH would find its long range touch using a trey by Jessica Liang (Alhambra, CA/Mark Keppel HS) to cut the lead to four, and another by Michelle Kribell (Buena Park, CA/Western HS) at the 10:18 mark to cut the lead to one at 21-20.

The Toros would grab their first lead of the game on Liang's second long range bomb of the day, but back-to-back buckets by Rosalyn Nelson on the 'Lopes next two possessions would regain the lead for GCU at 28-27 with 6:47 left of the clock.

GCU would extend its lead to seven at 36-29 on a three-pointer by Jacque Stevens, and would eventually head into the locker room up 36-31.

After the intermission, the Toros would slowly chip away at the deficit until Brittney Blankenship's (Palmdale, CA/Palmdale HS) long range bomb at the 15-minute mark would give CSUDH the lead at 41-39.

With 13:56 on the clock and the Toros up 45-44, it would be show time for Bennett.

Bennett would nail five threes over the next eight minutes of play, with the last one falling at the 4:30 mark to put the Toros up 17 at 72-55.

Mallory Avila's (Rialto, CA/Carter HS) eight free throws in the final two minutes would keep the 'Lopes at bay, as CSUDH turned the five-point halftime deficit into a 19-point blowout.

The 'Lopes would post four players in double-figures, led by Sara Dalgliesh's 16 points and six rebounds. Nelson, Jill Mahoney, and Stevens would round out the 'Lopes in double-figures with 15, 11, and 10 points, respectively.

In addition to Bennett's game high of 15 points, Blankenship would drop 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds while Liang and Avila would chip in 11 points apiece in the win.
