CARSON, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills' Corrie Hirokawa knocked in two goals, including the game-winner just :46 seconds into the match to lead the No. 19 Toros (3-0-0) to a 5-0 shutout victory over visiting Western Oregon University Saturday afternoon at Toro Field.
CSUDH (3-0-0) jumped out early on the Wolves when Amy Livergood (Torrance/N. Torrance HS) slipped the ball inside the defense at the top of the box to Hirokawa who placed her shot past WOU goalie Ally Meyer for a 1-0 lead 46 seconds into the match.
Michelle Sena (San Pedro/San Pedro HS) made it 2-0 at 13:01 taking a cross from Rachele McDonald (Ventura/Buena HS) and one-timed her close range shot to the back of the net. Just seconds before the half, Melissa Sena (San Pedro/San Pedro HS) gave the Toros a three-goal advantage with a long shot from the right side just over the outstretched hands of Meyer.
The Toros didn't waste any time in the second period when Ashley Silas (Sacramento, CA) headed home her shot at the mouth of the goal off a nice cross from Hirokawa for a 4-0 lead at 45:20.
Hirokawa then closed out the scoring in the 54th minute when she tapped the ball inside the near post off a cross from Kim Hearn (Whittier/Whittier HS).
Lisa Agramonte (Lakewood/Mayfair HS) made two saves in goal to earn her second win of the season. Ally Meyer suffered the loss allowing all five goals while making seven saves on the day.
For the match, CSUDH outshot the visitor's 27-4 and had a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks.
CSUDH is back in non-conference action on Thursday, September 8, taking on Seattle University. First kick is set for 4 PM.
