CARSON, CA -- Sophomore forward Tara Senff (Palos Verdes/So. Torrance HS) knocked in the game-winning goal with under a minute remaining to give host Cal State Dominguez Hills a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind win over Grand Canyon University Monday afternoon at Toro Stadium.

With the win the Toros, ranked No. 12 in last week's NSCAA/adidas national poll, elevate their record to 7-2-1. Grand Canyon falls to 6-5-0.

Lindsey Countryman got the Antelopes on the board early taking a pass from Emilee Ashby and beating Toro goalie Nhi Tran (Baldwin Park/Sierra Vista HS) one-on-one in the 13th minute of play.

Vanessa Young made it 2-0 in the first half taking a deflection off Tran in the goal mouth and punching in her fifth goal of the season in the 38th minute. The score remained there until the 55th minute of play when Senff scored her first goal of the game. On a set piece from the right side, Rachele McDonald (Ventura/Buena HS) headed the ball inside the penalty box to Senff who headed in her shot to the near post to make it 2-1.

Cal State Dominguez Hills then tied the game in the 68th minute on McDonald's team-leading sixth goal of the year. McDonald took a long pass up the middle of the field from Darcy Hubbard (Torrance/No. Torrance HS), and beat two defenders and the keeper to knot the game, 2-2.

Both sides had scoring opportunities in the final 22 minutes, but it was Senff who capitalized for the game-winner at 89:22. Senff dribbled the ball near the right flank past two defenders and drilled her shot to the upper far post. Grand Canyon goalie Jen Munger got her hands on the ball but couldn't hold on as the ball found the back of the net.

In the game, CSUDH outshot the Antelopes 21-11, including a 14-5 advantage in the second half.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is off until next week when they travel to crosstown rival Cal State L.A. on October 4. First kick is set for 7 PM.
