SEASIDE, Calif.-Cal State Dominguez Hills had three players score two goals apiece in an 8-0 rout over Cal State Monterey Bay in California Collegiate Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon at Otter Field.
CSUDH, ranked No. 12 in the latest NSCAA/adidas poll, is now 5-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in CCAA league play.
The Toros went up 1-0 on an own goal in the 10th minute of action. That would prove to be all the scoring the defense would need, but the CSUDH offense hadn't even started. Katie Roche put the visitor's up 2-0 in the 18th minute of play when Ashley Dahlenburg played a set piece from 35 yards out to Roche who headed her shot home.
Candace Hearn then made it 3-0 bending in a corner kick inside the Otter defense in the 23rd minute.
Cal State Dominguez Hills came out strong in the second half scoring five second half goals. Roche made it 4-0 in the 51st minute scoring her second goal of the game. Melissa Sena played off a short corner and sent her pass inside the box to Roche who headed in the goal.
In the 72nd minute, Kristen Boskovich scored her first of two goals slotting her shot past the goalkeeper at the top of the box. Boskovich then scored again just over six minutes later in the 78th minute knocking in her goal after a scrum at the mouth of the goal for a 6-0 lead.
The Toros weren't yet finished with Hearn scoring her second goal of the match. Hearn lofted a shot at the top of the box that bent inside the far post over the goalie for a 7-0 lead in the 79th minute.
Tara Senff capped the scoring on the day in the 82nd minute with her third goal of the year. On a free kick at the top of the penalty box, Senff beat the keeper to the far post.
CSUDH outshot Cal State Monterey Bay 16-4 in the match. Lisa Agramonte made two saves in goal to earn the win for the Toros.
Cal State Dominguez Hills is back in league action at home on Wednesday taking on UC San Diego. First kick is set for 3 PM.
