Roadrunners Post Sweep of Toros Volleyball Team

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The No. 25 ranked Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team posted a 30-19, 30-23, 30-19 sweep of Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday afternoon at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield.

Senior outside hitter Morgan Reed led a balanced Roadrunner attack with 12 kills. Jodi Hardin and Sarah Norman added nine kills apiece to help Bakersfield improve to 10-2 overall and 3-1 in the CCAA. Dominguez Hills drops to 3-6 and 0-4 with the loss.

The Roadrunners defeated the Toros for the 38th consecutive meeting dating back to 1987. They jumped to early leads in games one and two then held the Toros at bay for the wins. Reed had nine of her kills while Hardin and Norman totaled seven each in the first two games.

Dominguez Hills raced to a quick 7-2 lead to open game three before Bakersfield responded. The Roadrunners caught the Toros at 9-9 before sophomore libero Mystie McNaughton severed four consecutive points to help break a 15-15 tie as Bakersfield took control.

Junior outside hitter Courtney Spainhour led the Toros with nine kills and 11 digs. Junior Ashley Lawler added seven kills and nine digs.

Dominguez Hills returns home to host Sonoma State Friday night. The Roadrunners return to action Wednesday when they host a key CCAA match against No. 20 Cal State L.A.
