Carson, CA--A pair of unlikely heroes stepped to the forefront as Michelle Sena (San Pedro, CA/San Pedro HS) and Brittny McDonald (Ventura, CA/Buena HS) led the Toros women's soccer team to an inspired 2-0 victory over CCAA North Division leader Cal State Stanislaus Sunday afternoon at Toro Stadium.

With the win, CSUDH snapped a two-game skid and improves to 8-4-1, 3-3-1 CCAA, while CSUS falls to 10-3-1, 6-2-0 CCAA.

Sena got the Toros on the scoreboard late in the first half, a 45-minute period which saw CSUDH out-shoot the visitors 13-4. At 31:18, Katie Roche (Cerritos, CA/Costa Mesa HS) sent a pass towards the goal that Sena lofted just over CSUS goalkeep Breanna Vaughan as the Warrior attempted to collect, giving the Toro senior her second goal of the year.

Just 1:26 later, junior McDonald notched the first goal of her Toro career at 32:44, collecting a loose ball right in front of the net and connecting on the sitter for a 2-0 lead over the stunned Warriors.

The Toros continued their aggressive offensive attack after intermission, notching 12 shots against CSUS' four. The Warriors' Vaughan made 11 saves in seeing constant pressure all game, while CSUDH's Lisa Agramonte (Lakewood, CA/Mayfair HS) notched one save in the Toros' win.

CSUDH also tallied four corners to the CSUS' none.

The Toros continue CCAA action as they host Cal Poly Pomona on Tuesday, October 11, with first kick scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start in Toro Stadium.
