LOS ANGELES -- Cal State Dominguez Hills took advantage of a late first half red card on CSULA's Jairo Salazar, scoring four second half goals as the fourth-ranked Toros knocked off 21st-ranked Cal State L.A. on Tuesday afternoon at Jesse Owens Track, 4-0.

CSUDH improves to 9-1-1, 3-1-1 CCAA, while Cal State L.A. falls to 7-4, 4-3 CCAA. The Golden Eagles remain tied with Cal State San Bernardino atop the CCAA South with 12 points while CSUDH pulls into a tie for third place with UCSD at 10 points.

The first half featured a consistent CSULA attack followed by a CSUDH counterattack. The Golden Eagles controlled the opening 30 minutes, outshooting the Toros by a 7-3 margin. However, CSULA's shots kept going wide, keeping the game scoreless.

CSUDH started to respond in the final 15 minutes of the first half, slowly moving play into their offensive end. The match changed dramatically at the 41:36 mark when Salazar picked up his second card of the game, forcing the Golden Eagles to play a man short for the rest of the match.

CSUDH took advantage in the second half as the Toros kept up constant pressure against the shorthanded Golden Eagles. The Toros opened the scoring at the 50:42 mark when Sammy Rivas found the back of the net for a 1-0 CSUDH lead.

Kei Kamura tallied an unassisted goal five minutes later and Rivas added another goal at the 66:58 mark to give the Toros a comfortable cushion. Carmelo Terranova ended the scoring at the 80:59 mark off a free kick.

CSULA's Patrick Fry stopped seven shots in the loss while CSUDH's Kyle Polak made four saves.

The Toros are back in action next weekend with home matches on Friday and Sunday, against Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus, respectively.
