Freshman Kayla Gillett stepped up for the women's basketball team that earned her first CSUDH Athlete of the Week award.

In just three games played in Hawaii last week, Gillett scored 45 points but made 10 3-pointers. In addition, she had five assists and three steals.

She scored a career-high 21 points in the Toros win at BYU-Hawai`i and three days later she dropped five 3-point shots and went a perfect 4-for-4 on the free throw line in the win against Hawai`i Pacific.

Gillett has started all five games and is averaging 14 points per game.
