Women's soccer junior newcomer Abigail Ponce earns the first CSUDH Athlete of the Week award in the 2016-17 school year after scoring two goals in her Toro debut at Hawai`i Pacific Saturday.Â
Ponce, who came to CSUDH from Butler Junior College, scored the eventual match winner with help from teammate Moa Eriksson in the 27th minute. Moa's twin sister, Ida Eriksson, would contribute to Ponce's second goal in the 72nd minute that put the match out of the Sharks reach.
The Toros opened the first week of the season having shut out BYU-Hawai`i, 2-0, Thursday along with blanking the Sharks, 3-0.
