After leading the Toros to victories at home against Humboldt State and Cal Poly Pomona last weekend to extend their win streak to eight straight, women's basketball senior Breanne Garcia has been named the Toros Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Along iwth shooting 47.8 percent from the field, Garcia compiled 39 points, eight assists and seven steals over the weekend. She also went 12-for-15 on the free throw line.
The 5-2 guard out of Highlands came up just short of a triple-double against the Jacks Friday, scoring 19 points along with adding eight assists and seven steals. Nine of her points also came from the charity stripe.
Less than 24 hours later, she reached the 20-point barrier for the fifth time this season.Â
Garcia leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association with an average of 18.2 points per game and leads the team in steals with 29. She is shooting 35.9 percent in field goal range, 84.7 percent on the line.
