Velasquez was instrumental as the Toros bested Fresno Pacific in round one of the NCAA tournament, scoring twice in the win.

After a one-touch gave CSUDH a 1-nil lead in the 2nd minute, Velasquez scored the game-winner in the 77th minute to push them to a date with SPU in the second round.

In the 2nd round, an aggressive Velasquez was the victim of a takedown in the Falcon box, enabling teammate Tony Alfaro a PK attempt which he converted to knot the game at 1-1 before the Toros advanced in a shootout.
