Velasquez notched the equalizing score in the CCAA Championship Tournament semifinal against Cal State Stanislaus, where the Toros tied the contest before falling in penalty kicks.

With the Toros down 1-nil after an own goal, Velasquez received a feed from Gabriel Rivera with his back to the goal, spun and belted a left footed blast to the lower left corner past the Warrior keeper for the equalizer.

For his efforts and play during the tournament, Velasquez was named to the All-CCAA Tournament team.
