Senior left-handed pitcher Winston Lavendier was chosen by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 33rd round as the 1005th overall pick in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
The second-year Toro earned the No. 1 spot in the rotation to begin the season, and solidified his rank by going 5-1 over his first six decisions. After a mid-season lull, Lavendier came on strong toward the end of the regular season to help lead the Toros to the CCAA postseason, turning in a career performance in a 1-0 victory over CS San Bernardino in a complete-game win, fanning 10 batters while scattering eight hits.
Lavendier continued that momentum in the league tournament, earning a win in relief over Cal State Monterey Bay after tossing 5.2 innings and allowing just two hits and no earned runs in a 6-4 decision.
He finished the season leading the CCAA in innings pitched, 4th in wins, 5th in strikeouts, 9th in complete games, 18th in strikeouts per game and 20th in ERA.
