Biochemistry major Daniel Matienzo earned the athletic department's most prestigious honor at the Student-Athlete Awards banquet earlier this month for his all-around excellence.
Matienzo, who also served as the banquet's emcee, sports a 3.6 GPA as a biochemistry major, started 38 of 39 games with 9 doubles, a triple and his first home run of the year hit just last weekend in helping the Toros earn the fourth and final berth heading into the CCAA Tournament.Â
Away from the diamond, he currently volunteers with the Little Company of Mary, the Hippie Kitchen on Skid Row, with Eastview Little League, for Feria Es El Momento, while Orchestating the Make-A-Wish Gatorarde Pong Fundraiser as an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
