Cortez scored the Toros' lone goal in the 1-1 double-overtime tie against Chico State in the CCAA championship tournament semifinal round.

The true freshman took a cross and finished from the top of the 6 yard box as CSUDH was defeated in penalty kicks against the eventual CCAA runner-up Wildcats.
