Despite an off-conference week for Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Toros fought hard for all five of their wins, led by the stellar batting of Abel Medina who grabbed a hit in all five games with three multiple-hit games and an exceptional 4-of-5 effort. Medina played a pivotal role in all five of his team’s wins, directly contributing to the Toros’ now eight-game win-streak in one way or another.
In game one against Concordia University-Irvine, Medina belted a 2RBI homer to bring in the game-winning run for the Toros in a 5-3 decision.
In game two against San Diego Christian, Medina had his best outing of the week, nearly hitting for the cycle with a single, triple and two home runs, accounting for six of his teams runs in a 14-6 win. Medina also again brought in the game-winner on a 3RBI homer in only the second inning.
In game three against Cal State San Marcos, Medina brought in the Toros’ first two runs of the game on a 2RBI double in the third inning, CSUDH won 5-2.
In a weekend ending double-header against San Diego Christian, Medina kept the Toros perfect, driving in the game-winning run on another 2RBI double in game one (Toros win 8-6) while belting a 2RBI walk-off homer in game two (Toros win 7-5).
Overall, Medina led his team in at-bats, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs and total bases on the weekend.
