McLaurin played a key role as the Toros took 2 of 3 CCAA games last weekend to get back into the thick of the CCAA race as he averaged 16.0 points, 3.3 boards with 6 assists and 5 steals in the 3 games.

After coming within one point of sharing the team-high total for points in the loss against Cal State L.A. on Wednesday, McLaurin scored 6 of his 9 points in the first half to keep the Toros ahead of San Francisco State in CSUDH’s win, adding a key steal in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Compton native then took the team on his shoulders against CS Monterey Bay on Saturday, scoring 20 first-half points to keep the sluggish Toros in the game, allowing his teammates to regroup to the tune of a 50-point second half and a runaway win.  McLaurin shot 70% (7-for-10) in the period, including 5-of-7 from long range, while the rest of the squad made just 3-of 18 shots.

Overall, the junior transfer blistered the nets with a 56.7 shooting percentage, including 9-of-15 from long range, as CSUDH climbed to within a game and a half out of the top spot in the CCAA Conference.
