McGrath led the Toros to a weekend sweep in CCAA play, the team’s first two wins of the 2009-10 season.  During Saturday’s 65-61 win over Cal State East Bay, McGrath single-handedly willed the Toros to their first victory of the year, scoring 24 first-half points en route to a career-high 30 after suffering an ankle sprain in the second half.  Four of his six second-half points came via the charity stripe in the final 45 seconds, resulting in the final four Toro points of the game.  The senior guard also added a game-high nine boards in the heroic effort, while displaying his defensive prowess with a pair of steals and taking a charge during a late Pioneer comeback that resulted in his two made free throws that increased CSUDH’s lead to three with just 17 ticks left in the game.

One night later against UC San Diego, McGrath toughed out a 13-minute first half, scoring 6 points to help the Toros to a four-point halftime lead en route to 8 points and 4 boards in the 12-point win.

Overall, McGrath was the only player in the CCAA to reach the 30-point plateau, while averaging 19 points and 6.5 rebounds for the 2 games en route to shooting 57.1%, chipping in 3 steals and 2 assists as the Toros swept a crucial CCAA weekend to open the 2010 calendar year.
