In her first race in the Cardinal & Gold, junior transfer Gabriela Rubi from San Pedro, Calif. finished the Asics/UC Irvine Invitational 5k with a time of 19:34.40 for a place of 13th in the field of 114 runners. The time is the best the Toros have posted in the previous five years in a 5k while also pushing them to a seventh place overall finish in the event.
