Chanel Parker, a 5-7 sophomore from Carson, Calif. become the fastest runner in the CCAA this past week in regards to the 100-meter hurdles as she competed against a field of all NCAA Division I schools at the Cal/Nevada Championships hosted by UCLA.
 
Running with a time of 14.21 in the preliminaries, Parker once against earned a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA D-II championships to be held in San Angelo, Texas. The next day, March 29, competing against universities such as host UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, and University of Nevada, Parker lowered her time to 14.03, good enough for seventh, to become the fastest runner in the CCAA and the third fastest in all of Division II in the 100-meter hurdles.
 
Parker is now 0.03 seconds away from an automatic qualification at the NCAA D-II championships.
 
Aside from the 100-meter hurdles, Parker also competed in the 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 12.25, just shy of placing her in the final heat.
