Andrew Baslow, a 5-10 junior from Chatsworth, Calif. belted his way to lead the Toros’ hitting crew in a 3-1 series over the Wildcats of Chico State this past weekend. With a three-day average of .625, Baslow went 10-16 with five singles, two doubles, two triples and a solo home run for a total of four RBIs, 19 total bases and five runs. Amazingly, Baslow did all this without seeing a single K and only taking one free bag.
Despite hitting a double and tallying one RBI in game one, the Toros would fall in a 10-3 loss. In game two, Baslow cooled off, only going 1-3 while scoring one run and taking his only walk on the weekend while giving momentum to the Toros’ 8-0 win.
It was in game three that Baslow started to let it all out as he blasted a triple and two singles to go 3-4 on the day while tallying one RBI and crossing home plate twice. The previous three games set Baslow up for a monstrous game four in which he tallied a double, triple and home run, ironically he was only a single short of going for the cycle. Also in game four he grabbed an additional two RBI and scored two more runs to go 3-5 and guide CSUDH to an easy 9-4 win.
As a starter in every game in right field, Baslow caught all four balls that fell his way to anchor CSUDH in that corner of the grass.
