Marinez was directly responsible for CSUDH posting two wins last week, including a thrilling 1-0 overtime decision over 4th-ranked Cal State L.A. last Friday.
The Santa Monica native started the Toros early on Wednesday against UC San Diego, garnering an assist on the game-winning strike just 1:33 into the contest to give the 10th-ranked Toros an eventual 2-0 win over the Tritons.
Marinez continued his heroics two days later after regulation failed to decide the contest between two top 10 ranked teams as he collected a loose ball in the corner, and delivered a picture perfect cross to a waiting teammate, who headed in the game winner at the 97:54 mark to help the Toros upset the Golden Eagles, and avenge an earlier season 1-0 loss to CSULA.
Additionally, Marinez's play in the midfield helped CSUDH keep both opponents off the scoreboard, giving the Toros two consecutive shutout wins, and putting them in the driver's seat for the top seed in the upcoming CCAA Championship tournament.
