Senior guard Jessica Liang proved why she is the most feared three-point shooter in the league this past weekend, coming up huge for the Toros in a game that determined if CSUDH would clinch a spot in the CCAA tournament.

With the tournament on the line on Thursday on the road against Cal State Stanislaus Liang put the team on her back and began to fire from long-range like only four people in the history of the CCAA had done before her, nailing eight of nine three-point shots as part of a career-high 30-point night to turn a seven-point halftime deficit into a four-point win to put the Toros in the tournament.

Liang shot an astonishing 88.9% from beyond the arc and 73.3% (11-of-15) overall in the game, scoring her 30 points without any come at the free throw line in 39 minutes on the floor.

Even more impressive was the fact the the guard missed her first three-point shot attempt in the opening moments on the game, then went on the hit eight in a row, with her last coming with 13:33 left in the game which gave the Toros first and only lead that they would need.

In addition to tying the CCAA record for made three-point shots in a game, the senior also broke the CSUDH single-season record of 74 made three-point shots in a game and now stands two bombs from the CCAA season record of 80 and four treys behind the CSUDH career record of 240.

The next night against Chico State, who had already wrapped up the 2007-08 Regular Season CCAA Championship, and in a game that meant virtual nothing for either team since they already knew they would be matching up four days later in the first round of the tournament Liang scored a team-high 13 points for her 16th game of 10 or more points this season.

The Alhambra native averaged 21.5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assists, and 1 steal on the week.
