Steed jump-started the Toros in his first game back since the season’s initial contest, contributing 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 points in CSUDH’s 68-59 win over Grand Canyon.
After checking into the game five minutes into the contest with the Toros up 7-2, Steed immediately instigated a 17-2 run which, for all intents and purposes, put the game away. Steed got the run going by dishing a perfect alley-oop pass to a teammate for a baseline jam for a 9-2 lead, and then dished another assist just 20 seconds later for an 11-2 edge. Steed then notched his first points of the game via a 3-pointer for a 14-2 lead, and then fed a teammate for an easy bucket, which gave the Toros a 16-2 advantage. Steed capped off his return with another 3-pointer to give CSUDH a 24-4 lead, its biggest of the contest in the 9-point win.
In his first game back since the season opener, Steed notched 7 points, but added 8 boards and 7 assists, both game highs, in just 24 minutes of action.
